Match Report – Under 16 Girls – Round 2, 2018

U16 Girls – Bayswater vs Glen Waverley Rovers.

A big thank you to the girls from the U14’s who filled in for us. All the girls are improving and learning. We had some good tackles, marks and handballs. Again there were several individual performances which showed that we can do better. Our game plan and our style of play is improving.

Again we were up against a team who have been together for a while and this was reflected in the style of game play. Once again we have learnt from this experience and will improve. We didn’t allow the other team to run away with the game and fought on strongly right to the end. A very pleasing result.

The girls are getting better with kicks and handballs going towards the intended person. Although our numbers are down we are hoping to get more girls as the season progresses which will help with rotations and players being injured.

We are constantly modifying our training to encompass what the girls would like to do and what they need to do to continue to improve. At training we are doing lots and lots of ball handling skills such as handball and kicking with some challenging games. We are starting to see in our match day game the fruits of this and it will take some time.

Injury list
Emily P has a hand injury and Kayla was able to play after the injury from last week. Holly suffered from a minor head injury and will need to clear a doctors medical before returning to play.

It’s with great pride that despite having very few numbers from time to time and with the loss of several players this year, that we are still able to field a side this year.

Thank you to all who helped in this round.

Paul Leonard
U16 Girl’s Coach
