Match Report – Under 12 Girls – Round 1, 2019

U12 Girls – Heathmont vs Bayswater.

Round One for the under 12 girls was a big learning curve for not only the girls but coaches and assistants also. After a relatively easy practice match a week earlier, we came up against a very good Heathmont side that had a lot more seasons of experience throughout their team. When the final siren sounded it was Heathmont 70, Bayswater 6. Whilst we had 13 players for the day, Heathmont had 15 and to ensure all players received maximum game time, we borrowed a different Heathmont player for each quarter.

Even though the scoreboard was one sided, the experienced girls that played last year in the under 12’s instructed all the new girls through warm ups and game day duties. Hailey Carter captained the team and tried hard all day alongside Matilda Hindson who put in a best on ground performance and was our sole goal kicker. The backline was under the pump for a lot of the game, however a shining light for us was first gamer Kiara Torney playing full back who saved many goals.

We will definitely all learn from this first game, knowing the importance of training hard to improve our skills as well as knowledge of the game. Looking forward to round two to put this into practice.
