Match Report – Under 12 Girls – Round 2, 2019

U12 Girls – Bayswater vs Kilsyth.

Our first home game for the season against Kilsyth and whilst the end score wasn’t what we were aiming for there were a lot of positives. We took the field with a full team of 16 and had three girls playing their first games. Well done to Elena, Sydney and Zoe, hopefully you guys will be part of a win soon. Weather on the day was made for a typical winter footy game. The girls battled hard for the first two quarters only giving away two goals to be trailing by 14 at half time. As the game went on we tired a little and the taller Kilsyth girls didn’t get any shorter as the game went on. Final score being 57 – 0.

Our captain this week was Matilda Hindson who lead hard from the start. Some simple instructions given to the girls prior to the game were taken on board. Summer Soderman taking the kick outs from an opposition behind managed to find her target more often than not in the early stages of the game. Girls playing in the backline found themselves working hard all game and stuck to their opposition players to minimise the damage on the scoreboard. Our smaller players were on the bottom of the pack on a lot of occasions, none more so than Kayla Niksic picking up the ball with multiple opposition players trying to tackle her.

Once again it will be back to the training track on Friday night to improve our skills. If we can do this it will bring confidence in our gameplay.
