Match Report – Under 12 Girls – Round 7, 2019

U12 Girls – Boronia vs Bayswater

At round seven we’ve reached the half way point for season 2019 and we were able to get our second win against Boronia. Tori was our captain for the day and we were never challenged, winning 65 – 0. For the second week in a row we had one of our girls play on the opposition team in each quarter. Thanks to the girls for their understanding and playing on the opposition team which means we even up the numbers and everyone gets maximum game time.

We had a great start to the game with the ball in our forward line most of the first quarter and we were able to score three goals. Some of the game planning we are teaching the girls is starting to pay off, such as our ruck and wing players not crowding the forward line. Simple things we are doing at training, are also starting to be seen on game day, shepherding, constructive talk and direction being given by players on the ground. This game was a case of getting our hands on the ball first and kicking it forward. The girls willingness to work hard created plenty of opportunities to score.

Goal kickers on the day were Matilda and Kristy with 2 and singles to Kendall, Zoe, Summer, Hailey, Emily and Grace.

  • Boronia 0.0.0
  • Bayswater 10.5.65

A great team effort this round in a game that was difficult to keep all girls involved all the time. It’s great to get a couple of wins and with that comes confidence to take on tougher challenges. In a division that seems to have a big gap in ability between top and bottom teams, bring on the top teams and those challenges that await.
