Match Report – Under 12 Girls – Round 11, 2019

U12 Girls – Bayswater vs Boronia

Back on the winners list this week after a really good win against bottom side Boronia. Another game in cold conditions, however after kicking four goals in the first five minutes the girls put themselves in a great position for the remainder of the game. Some great early clearance work from Skye and Summer with Matilda sweeping from the wing to kick the ball deep into our forward line.

Credit to Boronia who fought back in the second half of the first quarter after our great start. Our backline was great and withstood the charge. Whilst the contest seemed fairly even for the remainder of the game we were able to put the points on the board. Final score Bayswater 74, Boronia 6. Our goal kickers for the day were Matilda with 3, Tori, Kiara and Grace with two and singles to Summer and first time goal kicker Gemma – well done! It was also great to see Sydney playing again after her broken finger earlier in the season. She was our captain for this round and performed very well after a lot of time running water.

With three games of the regular season to go, we’ll be focusing on the basics of picking up the ball and endeavouring to dispose correctly, getting it to a team mate. We need to continue to work on HELPING each other by doing the little things (talk, shepherd, running hard) as our last three games can all be wins if the girls are committed and work hard for each other.

A big thank you to Matt for filling in as runner for Craig for the last four weeks while he has been away. With all players looking to be fit and available for the last part of the season, hopefully we can finish the season full of run.
