Match Report – Under 16 Girls – Round 11, 2019

U16 Girls – Waverley Blues vs Bayswater

We were back at Pinewood Reserve for Round 11, to play Waverley Blues. With Chya, Jaslyn and Jordan out for personal reasons, we had eleven available players this week. Once again Waverley Blues gave us a couple of players regularly during the match, so we could play. Our U14s Rana and Torey joined us after quarter time.

It was a cold and drizzly day, with a tricky breeze which seemed to give Waverley Blues the advantage for most of the first half. Despite the best efforts of our defence, the scoreboard showed Waverley Blues up by 6 goals at half time. The game evened up in the second half, as we held Waverley Blues scoreless, while Em CT kicked a goal for us in her 50th match. Charli, also in her 50th, almost kicked a goal, just missing with a shot off the ground.

Amongst our best this week were Rhian, Em P and Sienna. Darcy played her best game of the season, with a really good four quarter effort in the backline. Izzy is starting to gain confidence, getting her hands on the ball a bit more and dishing out some nice handballs. Our milestone girls, Charli and Em CT both played well, with Em CT playing despite being restricted by a foot/ankle injury. The final scoreboard showed Waverley Blues winners 6.9-45 to 1.4-10.

Thank you to our U14s Rana, Torey, water carrier Aidyn, trainer Jodie and team manager Mandy, assistant coach and runner Ben, and our other parent helpers on the day.
