Match Report – Under 12 Girls – Round 12, 2019

U12 Girls – South Croydon vs Bayswater

Away to an improving South Croydon team and it was a tough game as expected. After we scored one point early it wasn’t until late in the game that the next score was recorded – a goal to the opposition. That was all the scoring for the game as we went down 6 – 1. Our point came from the boot of Hailey and if the ball had bounced right instead of left it would have been a goal…if only…

Even though there were some really great efforts by our girls as they battled hard we looked a little off our game this week. With limited footy experience in our team, it comes down to the intensity that we bring each week and that is what we will be looking to improve on as well as footy knowledge and skills.

A couple of stand out efforts this week were Zoe understanding that she can pick up the ball and with her leg speed run away from the opposition. Also performing well in the last quarter was Elena playing in the centre getting her hands on the ball first and kicking long our way. These two points can be utilised in future weeks as we head to the end of the season and finals.

Next week our second last regular season game is against Blackburn and will be another tough assignment. Some hard games that may be good lessons as all teams in this competition will play finals footy.
