Match Report – Under 16 Girls – Round 12, 2019

U16 Girls – Lilydale/Kilsyth vs Bayswater

For Round 12, we played Lilydale/Kilsyth at Pinks Reserve, on a beautiful sunny day. Both teams started with 11 players, as we had Chloe out with a knee injury, and Jaslyn and Chya missing for personal reasons. Our U14s Rana and Torey joined us after quarter time, with Lilydale/Kilsyth also getting some Under 14 players, so we could play 13 a side.

After a couple of weeks of horrible news, the team was understandably flat and we were totally outplayed for the first three quarters of the game, with Lilydale/Kilsyth getting off to a flying start kicking with the breeze in the first quarter. With our intensity a bit down, our players were often outnumbered at the contest, or were caught watching as their opponents ran away from them. We rallied a bit in the final quarter, as every player appeared to lift, running and contesting hard all over the ground. Despite several good opportunities, we couldn’t quite get a goal on the board. Darcy, playing her 50th, finished the game running hard on the wing. Our improved effort saw us win the final quarter. The final scoreboard showed Lilydale/Kilsyth winners 13.7-85 to 0.4-4.

Charli played one of her best games for the season. She won plenty of the ball, competed in the air and on the ground, chased and tackled, and never gave up. Sienna played well in the ruck for a lot of the game as our other rucks Em CT played with injury again and Jordan had a head knock during the game. Em P played another good captain’s game, competing hard, winning lots of the ball, and taking several kickouts. Rhian was once again amongst our best, being awarded the best player medal by Lilydale/Kilsyth.

Thank you to our U14s Rana, Torey, water carrier Zakiya, trainer Jodie, team manager Mandy, and runner Aidyn, and our other parent helpers on the day.
