Match Report – Under 12 Girls – Round 13, 2019

U12 Girls – Blackburn vs Bayswater

Well if round 12 was tough and scoring hard to do, this week was even harder. No goals for the game and the final score 2 – 1 in favour of the opposition, Blackburn, on their ground. For the second time in a month we travelled to Eley Park, and this time the scores were even closer than the last time we played them.

Pleasingly, our intensity was up right from the start lead by Skye in the ruck who set the tone with some bone crunching tackles and intercept marks. Our tackling has been something we have prided ourselves on all season, unfortunately we were a little too keen early and gave away a lot of free kicks from high tackles.

Another game that had the ball bounced one way rather than the other on multiple occasions, the score may have been in our favour. We pressed hard all game and probably had the ball in our forward line for more of the game than the opposition. Similar to Zoe in the previous round, Kristy found she too could pick up the ball and run away from the opposition. Each week the girls are learning more, one round to go and then finals. With close games the last couple of weeks, finals should be the same. We’ll keep working on skills and game knowledge and look forward to the results going our way soon.
