U12 Girls Rd4 Match Report…

Today’s game was a home game against Ferntree Gully.  For the first time this season, the opposition had a full team and we had 18 players.  Our captains for the game were Shayla and Skye.

With Ferntree Gully having the wind in the first quarter they got the jump on our girls and kicked the first three goals for the match.  In the second quarter we booted two goals of our own, both kicked by Shaylee.  We were definitely in for a tough second half as FTG were proving tough to tackle when they gained momentum with the ball in hand.

There were some great defensive efforts in the third quarter, Carly played as a defensive wing and was able to stop a few of the opposition attacks, Raelene played a smart game being able to pick off multiple FTG forward bursts also.  However, FTG were able to kick a couple more goals to extend their lead going into the last quarter.  We pushed hard in the last quarter, however FTG defended well, as we fell short by four goals.

Skye had a great game playing more time in the ruck, and did well to pick up the loose ball and kick it forward.  Keely impacted the contest on multiple occasions when needed and Charlie had a fantastic four quarter game, being involved all over the ground.

We’ll need to work on our team defence as well as tackling pressure, whilst always trying to improve our ball skills.  Final result for today – FTG 37 to Bayswater 13.
