U8s Mixed Rd4 Match Report…

Round 4 vs Mitcham

Round 4 footy saw our under 8’s go up against Mitcham using our full squad of players for the first time this year. The warm and sunny conditions made it a great day to be outside and play footy despite the strong wind making it tricky to kick against.  We welcomed Stevie who played his first game of footy and was a little terrier in the contest. Well done Stevie!

Owen was our designated captain for the match and got the team off to a flyer in the first half with some nice break away plays. Brodie and Wes continue to hit the scoreboard with some great goals from the dangerous duo. Hamish showed some dash with good run and carry with into the forward line. Heath set up some very nice plays bringing his teammates into the play with his handballs. Ben continues to find the ball and break away to find space before long clearing kicks.

In the other game, the team were supported by a couple of Mitcham players who wore the Kangaroo jumpers to even up the numbers. Josh showed us how well he can play with some nice marks. Claire and Anmar also improving with every game and getting more confident the more they touch the ball. Jacob played a starring role as a forward in the 2nd half, snapping some nice goals. Caleb and Levi linking up well in the midfield with some great attack on the footy to win the ball and clearing kicks towards the forwards.

It is very encouraging to see the kids gain more confidence each week and show us all what they can do with more confidence. I also enjoyed seeing the kids start to look for the handball to bring others into the game.  Great teamwork Baysie!
