U12 Girls Rd12 Match Report…

UNDER 12 GIRLS MATCH REVIEW – ROUND 12

Home against Heathmont this week and we had close to a full team with 20 players to start the match.  Our captain for the game was Skye with vice captains Grace and Shaylee, and these girls will play this role for the remaining three games of the season.

We knew Heathmont would be a tough game and that it would be a physical contest.  Unfortunately we just didn’t start the game as well as our opposition.  Struggling to even put a score on the board in the first half, we were down 16 to 0 at half time.

An extremely pleasing response in the second half.  The girls put in a great effort in the third quarter where we had multiple opportunities to score and ended up kicking one goal.  The second half was a much more even contest and whilst we were outscored, it was only 12 points to 8.  It would have been easy for the girls to not care after half time, but they fought out the game all the way to the final siren.  Some great efforts made by Ava throughout the game.

To win our last three games, we’ll need all girls to commit to the contest when it is their turn.  Footy games are won by good teams, where everyone is contributing.  We’ve seen that this year with our girls.  Hopefully we can finish the season strong.
