Match Report – Under 12 Girls – Round 4, 2019

U12 Girls – Bayswater vs Rowville Hawks

This weeks game against Rowville Hawks at home was our last grading game. After some good signs and on field improvement from round one to three, the girls put in a solid performance in this game. We pride ourselves on our ability to tackle, but to be tackled means we have the ball!!

The challenge this week was to get our hands on the ball first and make the opposition chase us. We kicked the first goal of the game and probably looked the better team early on however to sustain that level of intensity is extremely difficult even for the best AFL team. At the end of the game the score was 32 to 8 in Rowville’s favour.

All the girls were involved early in the game with new player Kristina getting a kick in the first quarter and our captain for the day Charlie also getting her hands on the ball. Our goal kicker was under 10 fill in Shaylee, who played a great game. When Rowville did start to get their hands on the ball it was great to see the girls still willing to tackle and fight for possession right to the end of the match.

Regardless of the grading outcome for the remainder of the season we will be focusing on improving the girls ball skills and gameplay knowledge. This takes time and effort from all. Hopefully we can get a win or two along the way.
