Match Report – Under 12 – Round 10, 2019

U12 – North Ringwood vs Bayswater

Another tough game for the boys as we near the business end of the season and teams strive for finals. Our trip to North Ringwood brought a big challenge against a very good team who have found some good form.

We got a boost with the arrival of a new player, Anthony, but then a blow before the game when Chad hurt his knee and had to leave the ground to see a doctor. After starting well and kicking the first two goals, North Ringwood got control of the game back and from then on the whole game became a real tense struggle with neither team able to really take control. The lead changed many times, and margins of 1 point, 4 points and 2 points were all we had at the ends of the first three quarters. The boys were trying really hard, but we just weren’t able to find the teamwork that has become our trademark this season. However, constant defensive efforts kept us in the contest.

The last quarter was as tough and close as you can get in Under 12 football. The ball moved from one end to the other, and the crowd was really entertained – and loud! It was great, tough, football. Super efforts from Malakai, who had a super game, and Alex and Joel in defense helped keep us in the contest and prevent North Ringwood from scoring. It also set up a great set shot goal from Oscar with 2 minutes to go that allowed us to record a really good, hard fought win.

Magnificent game (and especially last quarter) from Malakai, and a great first game from Anthony. We also wish Chad all the best and hope he’s back playing with us soon.

Final Scores:

  • North Ringwood 5.3.33
  • Bayswater 5.7.37

Goal Kickers: J. Gilchrist 2, R. Roberts, A. Samos, O. Ludtke
Best Team Players: Malakai Gordon, David Derham, Alex Samos, Anthony Stoddart
