Match Report – Under 12 – Semi Final, 2019

U12 – Bayswater vs Donvale

Our first final and as the top team we faced the 6th placed, Donvale. I reiterated to the boys the importance of resetting for finals, and to remove the previous results from their minds as it’s a new season. To their credit the boys approached the game with an excellent mindset, and from the start it was pretty clear that they were focused and ready for finals football.

Quarter time we led 3.4 to 0.2, and we had our structure pretty much as what we felt was our best set up. The second quarter saw some great team football again from the boys, and we went into half time leading 5.7 to 0.2.

The third quarter we made some positional moves to both give some boys a bit of a rest, and allow others to play in different positions. The effort was maintained, though, and at ¾ time we were leading 7.11 to 2.5.

The last quarter was a really good example of our good team football, and with some great running from Xavier and Oscar, and a lot of running from Jamie, we ran out winners by 47 points. Still got some things to work on, as our goal kicking was a bit off, but it’s always great to win a final. We’re off now to the preliminary final.

  • Bayswater 8.19.67
