U14 Boys Rd1 Match Report…

Round 1 v Boronia

Our opening game of the season saw this group of plucky boys come together for the first time. With 6 new players, 2 new to football, it was going to be a tough day against a very good and experienced Boronia team. Being short on numbers meant we were up against it, but we’ve spoken about this at training and the boys are up for the challenge. The first half saw Boronia assert their authority at times, but also showed the grit and determination of our boys who never gave up a contest. The conditions were very difficult, wet and slippery, and at half time we were down 6.12 to 2.4.

The second half was much like the first, with Boronia’s class and greater numbers slowly wearing our boys down, but their effort never waned, and we’re very proud of that. Playing more games together will help with our teamwork, and also give the boys much needed confidence as we move through the season. A loss for our first game, but lots of great things to work on. Final scores Boronia 11.20 to Bayswater 2.7.

Congratulations to Noah on 50 games (and his first for our club!); very special mentions to Blake and Mason (for their first EVER games of footy), and James, Rhys and Corey for their first games for the club! We’re rapt to have you all aboard.
