U12 Girls Rd5 Match Report…

After four rounds of grading, we remained in B grade and our round five match was against Knox who were relegated from A grade.  We had 18 players for the day and so did Knox.  Our captains for the day were Raelene and Ella.

We were able to get off to a great start with some hard work done early in our midfield by our older girls, Skye and Shaylee.  Once the ball was moved forward, we were able to capitalise by kicking four goals in the first quarter.  An awesome small forward effort by Jess, kicking two of those goals.

Our second quarter was a tougher contest as Knox kicked towards what felt like the scoring end.  They were able to score an early goal, however we fought back really hard with some tough defensive tackles made by Keely, and then we hit the scoreboard for a couple of goals of our own.

We were able to kick a couple more goals in the third quarter with Grace providing plenty of forward momentum, both kicking forward and running the ball forward.  Hard running on the wing by Carly was fantastic as she helped out in defence when needed.

Overall, the focus of todays game was to play as a team and help each other.  The little things make a massive difference in a game of footy.  Emily and Charlotte communicating when giving Skye a rest in the ruck, midfield pressure and tackling by Ella, selfless acts by Raelene playing behind the ball when we were in our forward line.  This was a major reason for our girls enjoying a win today.

Final result for todays game Bayswater 47 to Knox 18
