U8s Mixed Rd6 Match Report…

Round 6 vs Rowville

A bright and early start to the Sunday with our little champs facing the Rowville Knights. Our two teams were led magnificently by Wesley and Hamish who were our respective co-captains for the round. Archer played his first game of footy and wasted no time getting involved with the play and getting plenty of touches of the footy. Great start to Bayswater footy, Archer!

We are seeing some great “run and carry” plays from the kids gathering the ball and running the ball forward before disposing. Earlier in the week we practiced defending with players harassing the ball carrier with hands and bodies in the way. Some great smothers from Caleb and Ben making it hard for the opposition to move the ball forward.

In the other game Brodie and Levi provided plenty of dash from the middle and effective ball movement into the forward line. Shout out to Josh who keeps getting better each week and kicked his first goal for the season to go along with some pretty awesome marks.

We will keep encouraging the kids to back themselves and make a play for the loose ball. When in possession the quick ball movement will help beat any congestion and get the ball going our way. Any score is worth a high 5 or clap, but nothing beats a goal. Well done team!

This Friday night we will work on our possession game with a focus on marking and of course having fun.  Go Baysie!
