Match Report – Under 11 – Round 3, 2018

U11 Boys – Bayswater vs Mitcham Black.

Another game short of numbers, and another brilliant team effort from this group of boys.

Mitcham began with 17 to our 15, but the boys attacked the game with the same effort and intensity they’ve shown each week so far, and we again scored first to find ourselves up at quarter time by 10 points.

The game was played in great spirits, and both teams were fighting hard but it was our boys who were just a little cleaner and quicker with their ball movement, adding 3 goals in the second quarter, and by half time we led 4.5. 29 to no score.

A big first half effort needed to be improved upon as Mitcham gained a couple of extras, but this seemed to just inspire the Bayswater boys a little more, and with strong encouragement and a great captain’s game from David, we managed to add another goal while keeping Mitcham scoreless.

The last quarter, as it has been in our first three rounds, was a tough battle as the numbers game started to show and our boys understandably tired. However, through the great, tough work of Owen in the middle, Jackson in the ruck, and the tough work of Cody and Brodie in defence, we held Mitcham out for another tough, great win.

Full credit to all the boys for a super team effort, particularly to keep the other team scoreless. Great discipline and teamwork. Our lesson for this week is understanding that our best behaviour is required before, during and after the game, no matter what the result.
