Match Report – Under 12 – Round 5, 2019

U12 – Kilsyth vs Bayswater

Coming up against another new opponent presented a few challenges for us, and this became obvious when the game started and the hungry Kilsyth team, with a number of Under 10 players filling in, gave us a lesson in playing team football.

Our boys were often second to the ball, and we didn’t work for our teammates, by talking or shepherding. And if we did win the ball, we were kicking aimlessly forward hoping for the best. Good teams don’t win many games of football doing that.

The first three quarters all played out this way, and after trailing again at quarter time, we found ourselves just in front at half time (4 points) and three quarter time (5 points) having only kicked one goal.

The last quarter saw us get back to some running, team football and we managed to kick a few goals to put the game beyond reach of the gallant Kilsyth team. In a sporadic effort (we played in patches), Jamie had a great last quarter (despite often running out of position), and was helped by good games from Malakai, Owen, David, Cody and Jackson.
Final Score:

  • Kilsyth 0.5.5
  • Bayswater 5.7.37

Goal kicker: Jamie Gilchrist 4, Malakai Gordon 1
Best Team Players: Malakai Gordon, Zyon Darmawan, Jackson Peters, Jamie Gilchrist
