Match Report – Under 12 – Round 12, 2019

U12 – Bayswater vs Kilsyth

Our last home game for the year and we faced a Kilsyth team who haven’t won many games, but were very tough the last time we played – and in the first quarter they reminded us of that.

It was a physical, tough (but fair) game where our boys took a little while to adjust to the style of play. At quarter time we were up 3.3 21 to 0.3. 3. The second quarter saw the boys almost stop – we stopped running for each other and playing team football, and the physical football of the much smaller Kilsyth boys seemed to worry us.

At half time I asked the boys what they thought was going on, and to their credit they all identified the lack of team football – talking, running for each other, and keeping calm under pressure. Leading 4.3. 27 to 0.3.3 at half time, the boys got back to their good ‘brand’ of team football, and a much better second half saw them get the scoreboard rewards that teams look for and we earned a 70 point win.

Plaudits to Kilsyth for fighting the game right out to the end. Highlights of the game were the first goals of the season to Davo (2 goals) and Xavier in another good team effort.

Final Scores:

  • Bayswater 11.7.73
