Match Report – Under 12 – Round 13, 2019
U12 – South Croydon vs Bayswater
We took on South Croydon in our penultimate (look it up!!) home and away game, and my message to the boys was about finals preparation. They’ve set the bar for themselves, and so we start our final month of football today. Again, we played a team who, although they haven’t won many games, always give us a good, tough, contest.
Our first half was quite good, and there were some really good patches of team football, particularly the chains of handballs the boys have learned to create. Some really great efforts from Jackson, Toby, Campbell, Peppers and Anthony really helped us play some great defensive football. At half time we found ourselves up by 36 points, 6.3 to 0.3.
The second half saw some positives, and some things we can work on. Our pressure was really good, and this is a great sign as we get to the business end of the season, but we need to work on keeping our focus for the team. A great effort from our forwards in always trying to get our great mate Fletcher on the scoreboard – it will come.
The boys once again ran the game out really well, which is pleasing for the coaches. In the end it was a comfortable win against a side that fought the game out really well, and another good test for our boys that has been passed.
