U9s Mixed Rd3 Match Report…
Round 3 vs South Belgrave
Anzac day morning up at South Belgrave, with all the players in the change rooms before the game, we asked why today was special. A roomful of hands up in the air, eager to discuss why the day is so. We officially welcomed our 19th player to the team, Indi. Rob and I went through our strategy with the kids and for the first week officially started nominating captains for the day. Today’s captains were Sid and Cooper, both rose to the task and lead our team out, down the stairs and on the field with pride.
All the players lined up perfectly and respected the Anzac ceremony.
Friday nights training session was winning the football back in open play, teaching the principals of defence (pressure and covering).
During the game, we saw extreme pressure from our teams. Things are really coming along. Rob and I don’t keep score, however we hear about the end result all the time.
All kids had a ball and all players are displaying their increase in skill and confidence.
Post game, the umpires awarded the Anzac medal to Dusty. Well done on your game!
Back in the rooms, a quick debrief, the kids sung the Baysie club song, all players not only know the song, but sing it united with passion.
Next round is back at home against The Basin.
