Match Report – Under 12 – Round 8, 2019
U12 – Bayswater vs Donvale
Each week presents a new challenge to the boys in what is a very even competition, and this was no exception. Donvale has been playing some good footy in recent weeks, so it was very pleasing that we finally got off to a good start! Leading at quarter time was a new experience for the boys, so we needed to make sure that we kept our workrate up where it should be. Through continued hard work, we found ourselves 22 points up at half time.
The running, link up handball of the boys has become a real stand out this season, and it’s so satisfying to see them improve so much as a team.
Especially pleasing was the way the boys all worked hard for four quarters to produce what was our best four quarter game for the year in terms of teamwork. Everyone at some point contributed two or three really good efforts that helped the team, and as a coach I cannot ask for any more. There were particularly good games from a couple of players including Joel, Chad in the ruck, and Owen up forward, but overall it was a really good team effort. Special mention to Josh B for kicking his first goal!
